What is a travel team? It is a competitive team that plays against similar age/gender teams from other area clubs in the Rochester and surrounding area.
Victor Travel basketball Charter:
To provide each child who is interested in playing a competitive level of basketball an opportunity to play the game while developing /enhancing their skills enabling them to become a better basketball player.
Victor Travel Basketball organization was created to offer a fun and competitive venue for young athletes to play Basketball. Our program is not a recreation type program, rather a more competitive option for advanced play in game situations. Practice sessions start in late fall and continue through April. Practice is typically once a week but can vary based on the coaches discreaton. There are league games starting in November and going through April. Games are usually played on weekends. The travel coach may also elect to play in area tournaments.
Victor Travel Basketball Policy regarding individual’s game playing time :
For players in grades 3 through 8: Each player will be given best efforts to play 4 minutes playing time each half and the most players can play is 12 minutes. The goal is to ensure that each child reaches his/her potential and have a positive learning experience.
Elegibility
Players who will be going into 3rd grade through 8th grade of the seaon year are eligible to try out for the Victor Travel Basketball program.
Victor Travel Basketball Policy regarding playing up a grade level:
Any parent that is interested in having their child ‘play up’ will be bound by the following requirements.
1. Parent must present in writing to the board reasons child should be playing up.
2. Board will only consider request if :
a. The number of players on a team dictates the need for an additional players and
b. player requesting to ‘play up’ would not cause someone of the appropriate grade level to be cut from team.
3. Player who elects to play up cannot play on two teams his/her grade level team and the above grade level team.
4. Board will consult with coach as to abilities of requesting players skills
5. Board will make determination based on above criteria.
Fees
Registration fee: $10.00 per person: fee covers cost of gym for tryouts
Program fee: $150.00 per person grades 5 - 8
$100.00 per person grades 3- 4
$350.00 family cap
Program fees cover
referees, gym time costs, league fees,
1 tournament, insurance and misc program fees
Refunds: No refund (extenuating circumstances can
be brought to Travel board's attention for consideration)
Tryouts
Travel basketball conducts open tryouts for competition in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, in the both boys and girls divisions. . Tryouts will be held in late September/early October. Specific dates, times and gym locations should be available early/mid September.
